PV Lab Week

Register now!

This workshop offers the ultimate hands-on experience at SEI’s Colorado training facility! We offer state-of-the-art equipment pared with a low student to instructor ratio (no more than 8:1). This creates a safe learning environment where students can install a variety of systems with the direct supervision from our experienced instructors. Participants rotate in small groups from component to component and tear-down, dissect, and re-install different types of systems. Participants will have the opportunity to install and wire various components of stand-alone, grid-tied or grid-tied with battery back-up systems, with safety and NEC code compliance being the main themes of the week. The lab yard includes roof, ground and pole mount systems. This workshop has 5 days of hands-on installation.

Prerequisite: PV Lab Week is the logical next step for students who have taken PV D&I (online or 6 day) or for Grid-tied PV students who want more hands-on experience. Participants must have completed one of these first level PV workshops before enrollining in PV Lab Week.

Those who are serious about designing their own system or working in the solar industry should plan to follow this workshop with Advanced PV: Design Criteria and NEC Compliance. Advanced PV is intended to follow our first tier of workshops with the next level of design criteria, wire sizing calculations, maintenance issues, troubleshooting skill, and more information on batteries, charge controllers and hybrid system.

We will be offering the NABCEP Entry Level 'Certificate of Knowledge'  test after each of our Paonia-based Advanced PV and PV Lab Week workshops, but NOT after the our PV Design and Installtion workshops. The test, which consists of 60 multiple choice questions, takes 2 hours and takes place after class on Friday from 6-8pm. The cost of the test is $100. Students must register with SEI in advance. For more information on the NABCEP Entry Level Certification, please see their website at www.nabcep.org.
